After the upgrade to Odoo 19
When your database has been moved from an older version, for example Odoo 17, to Odoo 19, it is a good idea to test the things you use every day straight away. This page shows what to test, the problems clients have run into most after upgrades, what changed in common screens and how to let Exigo know.
What should I test after the upgrade?
Keep a close eye on the tasks you do most often in the first days after the upgrade. Use real work, not test records, because invoices and claims go to customers and banks. Start with what leaves the system for customers, banks and suppliers, because that is where most problems have come up after upgrades.
- When you send your first invoice or quotation by email, check that the recipient gets it.
- Check that email that should arrive in Odoo, for example supplier invoices sent to a dedicated address, keeps arriving.
- If you send bank claims: the day after you send your next claims, open and check whether they ended up there.
- If you send e-invoices: when you post your first invoice to a customer who receives e-invoices, check the E-Document Status column in the invoice list. Also check that e-invoices from suppliers keep arriving.
- Open each app you use and watch whether the first ordinary tasks go through, for example when you confirm a sales order, receive goods or post an invoice.
- Print a quotation and an invoice and check the text, the footer and the language.
- Test the screens, reports and automated actions that were customised for your company, for example with Studio.
- Go through the website: home page, menus and links, product pages, cart and payment, forms, and event or course pages. Look at it on a phone as well.
- Compare a few figures you know from the old system, for example the balance of large customers and open invoices.
Tip
Contact Exigo straight away if claims, invoices or emails do not go out. Anything else that is not as it should be you can collect in one list, with a screenshot of each item, and send to Exigo in one go.
Claims, emails or e-invoices do not go out or do not arrive
After the upgrade, claims do not reach the bank, emails or e-invoices do not reach customers, or emails and invoices from suppliers stop arriving in Odoo.
What could cause this
- Odoo's connection to the mail server, the bank or the e-invoicing service does not work after the upgrade.
- A mailbox connected to Odoo through Microsoft 365 needs to be authorised again.
- Odoo's own setting for standard e-invoices, eInvoice format, came along on customers from Odoo 17. While it is filled in, emailing an invoice to that customer fails. Exigo's add-on handles e-invoicing, and this field should be empty.
What you can check
- Email: open the record the email was sent from and look at its chatter. A red envelope next to the message means sending failed. Click the envelope to see the error.
- Claims: open and see which claims are listed.
- E-invoices: in the invoice list, the E-Document Status column shows whether an invoice went out. Add the column if you do not see it. Red means sending failed.
- If a message about an e-invoice in the invoice's chatter shows a GUID, do not send the invoice again. The same goes for claims: do not cancel a claim and create a new one while it is unclear whether the bank has it.
- If only one or a few customers do not get invoices by email, note which customers they are and the invoice numbers.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo straight away if claims, emailed invoices or e-invoices do not go out, or if emails or supplier invoices do not arrive. Email hjalp@exigo.is with:
- the numbers of the invoices or claims that did not go out,
- a screenshot of the error or of the red envelope,
- the time you tried to send,
- the address that is not receiving email, if incoming email does not arrive.
The website looks different or links do not work
The website's colours or layout have changed, images are missing, one page shows an error, for example an event page, or links point to pages that do not exist.
What could cause this
- Changes made to the website and its templates in the older version do not fit the new templates in Odoo 19.
- The theme the website used was removed or replaced in the upgrade.
- A new setting in Odoo 19 changes how things are shown, for example how product images are cropped. See the next section.
What you can check
- Go through the main pages: home page, product pages, cart and checkout, forms, terms and conditions, and event or course pages.
- Click every link in the menu and the main buttons. Write down the address of every page that does not work.
- Look at the website on both a computer and a phone.
- Take a screenshot of what is wrong.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if a page shows an error, images are missing, links are broken or the layout is different from before. Email hjalp@exigo.is with:
- the address of each page,
- a screenshot of what is wrong,
- a picture of the page from before the upgrade, if you have one.
Product images on the website are cropped
Images on product pages in the webshop are cropped, for example to a square, where they used to show the whole picture.
What could cause this
- Odoo 19 has a new setting on product pages, Auto-crop, that crops images to a fixed ratio. The default is Default (1/1), which crops the images to a square.
- The setting applies to every product page on the website. On phones the images follow the same setting as on computers by default.
What you can check
- Open a product page on the website and click Edit.
- Open the Style tab.
- In the Auto-crop row, choose Disabled to show the whole image, or a ratio that suits your images.
- If images on phones should differ from computers, open Mobile under Auto-crop and choose a ratio there.
- Click Save.

Note
Images in the product list on the shop page follow a different setting, which also existed in older versions. Click Edit on the shop page, open the Style tab, click the brush icon in the Products Design row and untick Auto-crop under Image Ratio.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if images are still cropped after you have changed the setting, or if images are missing altogether. Email the address of the product page and a screenshot to hjalp@exigo.is.
An error appears when I open an app or save a record
An app or a screen does not open, or an error window appears when you save, confirm or post a record, for example when you confirm a receipt of goods.
What could cause this
- A customisation from the older version, for example a Studio change to a screen, a custom report or a webhook, does not fit Odoo 19.
- The upgrade did not fully complete for one add-on.
- Data or a setting does not meet a rule in Odoo 19. The window is then called, for example, Validation Error and the text says what is wrong.
What you can check
- Read the text in the error window. If it says what is missing or wrong, fix it and try again.
- If the window is called Oops!, click See technical details and copy the details with the copy icon.
- Check whether the same error appears for colleagues and in another browser.
- Write down what you did just before the error and in which record.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if the Oops! window appears, if an app does not open, or if an error comes up in a task that worked before the upgrade. Email hjalp@exigo.is with:
- the technical details, pasted into the email,
- the app and menu you were in,
- the record number, for example of the receipt or invoice,
- the time of the error and a screenshot of the window.
I cannot edit the text of a product line as before
On quotations, sales orders, customer invoices and purchase orders there is no longer a separate description column, and you cannot find where to edit the text that goes with the product.
What could cause this
- In Odoo 19 the product and the description are in the same column. The description is shown in italics under the product name, not in a separate column as before.
- The product name is not part of the text you edit. If you empty the description, the line gets the product name back.
- If the description column is hidden, no description is shown under the products.
What you can check
- Click the italic text under the product name and edit it there.
- If the line has no description, click the button with three lines next to the product, or press Enter in the product field, and type the description. When you hold the mouse over the button, Click or press enter to add a description appears.
- If no description shows on any line: click the settings icon at the far right of the lines' header row and switch on the description column. On sales orders it is called Description.

When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if the description does not print correctly on a quotation or invoice, or if you cannot edit it on an open order. Email the order or invoice number and a screenshot to hjalp@exigo.is.
Text appears in English after the upgrade
Menus, buttons or emails to customers are in English, or corrected translations do not show.
What could cause this
- Some things that are new in Odoo 19 do not have an Icelandic translation yet. The English text is then shown.
- Translations of customised email templates were broken in the upgrade.
- In some cases corrected translations have not appeared until the user switched language and back.
What you can check
- Click your avatar at the top right and choose My Preferences.
- Choose English in the Language field and save.
- Open My Preferences again, choose Icelandic and save.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if emails or documents to customers are in English or have garbled text after the upgrade, or if you want text in menus or buttons translated. Email hjalp@exigo.is with:
- the name of the template or document, for example the invoice email,
- a screenshot that shows the text and where it appears.
Figures or data do not match the old system
The balance of a customer or an account is not what you expected, records seem to be missing, or an error appears when you post.
What could cause this
- Someone kept entering data in the old system after the data was moved. Those records are not in the new system.
- Odoo 19 shows some things differently than before, for example the description on product lines.
- Data did not carry over correctly in the upgrade.
What you can check
- Check which filters and period are selected in the list or report.
- Compare one record you know well, for example one invoice or one customer, with the same record in the old system or in a printout from before the upgrade.
- If someone has entered data in the old system after the move, note which records they are.
When to contact Exigo
Contact Exigo if a figure or record differs from the old system after you have checked filters and period, or if an error appears when you post. Email hjalp@exigo.is with:
- the name of the report or account and the period,
- the figure you see and the figure you expected,
- an example of a record that is missing or wrong, with its number.
How to let Exigo know
Email hjalp@exigo.is or use the request form listed under See also below. Say that the problem started after the upgrade to Odoo 19, and send:
- the app and menu you were in,
- the record number, for example of the invoice, order or claim,
- when it happened,
- a screenshot of what you see,
- the technical details from the Oops! window, if it appeared,
- the page address if the problem is on the website,
- whether this worked before the upgrade.
